September is always a special month for Interface Fluidics as it is the time we come together for our annual team event—Interface Fest!
Every year, our team gathers from across Canada—Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver, and more—to meet at our Edmonton office and lab. It is a time to connect, grow, and collaborate on the future of Interface Fluidics.
My InterFest journey began early on the morning of September 4th with a bus ride from Calgary to Edmonton. A nice break in the fall heat made for a beautiful day to make the trip out in harvest season.
Once in Edmonton, I headed straight to our lab at the beautiful and historic University of Alberta for a photoshoot of our latest deploying SapphireLab heading to Norway. Seeing the lab team in action was a real highlight—everyone was buzzing with so much positive energy, and was so proud of what they’d worked so hard together to create. It was a real testament to what goes into making us a world leader in Microfluidics.
On September 5th, the whole team came together at the lab for a day of mingling, great food, and productive conversations. Led by one of our founders, David Sinton, we dove into discussions on what’s working and what we want the future to look like. It was inspiring to see our diverse team from such different disciplines come together to share ideas, address challenges, and brainstorm new solutions. The breakout sessions allowed us to get aligned and energized for what’s to come.
Lots of great ideas came out during the round tables, and it gave the whole team a real chance to talk across disciplines to bridge gaps and work collaboratively.
Next, we had the exciting opportunity to recognize our long-term service employees (Left:Taylor – Craig – John – Seven). It was inspiring to hear how they’ve thrived at Interface Fluidics and made a lasting impact on the company.
It was also a chance to celebrate the three friends who founded Interface Fluidics and brought us all together today!(Right: Tom – Stuart – David) Read their story here.
After all the hard work, we headed to headed to Kingman Pitch and Putt to unwind. Even if many of us were not practiced golfers, we still had lots of laughs and it was the perfect way to wrap up an eventful day.
As I made my way back to Calgary, I felt refreshed and excited for what’s ahead at Interface Fluidics. This trip was a perfect reminder of what makes Interface so special—the incredible people behind it. The team truly is what makes this company the world class leader it is.
